Smart Times is a remarkable event that Smart AG aim to revive with your participation. Alongside the Glücksgefühle Music Festival, where you can enjoy 40 hours of live music, Smart AG has prepared numerous exciting highlights exclusively for our dedicated community of smart enthusiasts and their families.

Smart parking and camping area

Adjacent to the festival grounds, you will find a designated smart camping area and parking spaces reserved exclusively for smart fans. This provides a wonderful opportunity to connect with fellow members of the smart community and forge friendships with individuals who share your enthusiasm for smart vehicles.

Smart Times booth

Immerse yourself in the world of smart at our expansive 600 sqm booth located at the south stand. Discover a range of engaging activities and experiences that are sure to provide everyone with a memorable time. Additionally, following the concerts, Smart invites you to join the booth for an exciting after-party.

Smart #1 test drives

Immerse yourself in an exhilarating driving experience by taking the wheel and feeling the thrill firsthand. Engage in the smart #1 guided test drive sessions, where you can unleash the power of these extraordinary machines on the exclusive smart test drive track area located at Hockenheimring.

Open Air cinema – powered by Smart

Experience the captivating atmosphere of the smart open-air cinema, featuring a seating arrangement of up to 200 beach deck chairs. Additionally, there are limited special seats available inside the smart #1 for an exclusive viewing experience.

Review After The Event

The smart community experienced a weekend of novelty and change that left enthusiasts pondering the question, “Was everything bad?” The revamped smart brand introduced fresh elements, prompting smart enthusiasts to adapt to new experiences. As we look ahead to the future, questions arise about the location of next year’s smart times event. It’s already apparent that a transformation has taken place.

This year, smart times embraced a new concept by aligning itself with another event, giving birth to the intriguing title, “smart times 2023 @ Glücksgefühle Festival.” This hot weekend was marked by the fusion of asphalt, music, and short nights, creating an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation. The smart community is bracing for a shift that promises to bring a blend of the familiar and the innovative.

This entire scenario had numerous advantages, a few disadvantages, but above all, it was entirely new for all smart fans. Many people, multiple stages, and an incredible atmosphere contributed to creating a unique vibe that was, of course, quite different from the classic smart times experience. Nevertheless, a touch of smart times flair returned with the presence of the substantial smart booth at the South Stand. Alongside the new smart #3, the booth showcased a smart 450 from the first production month, a 451 BRABUS tailor-made in Lamborghini green, a roadster that had traveled from Sicily, and a smart #1. Altogether, it was a colorful mix of smart enthusiasts.

The test drive left a particularly impressive mark on me. At the Porsche Experience Center’s handling course, we had the opportunity to truly experience the smart #1 (in our case, the BRABUS model) in a dynamic manner, typically a privilege reserved for vehicles from Zuffenhausen. According to smart, a total of 256 test drives took place over the weekend, providing an excellent chance for the 135,000 festival attendees, even those who didn’t specifically attend for smart, to get to know the new smart.

As mentioned, there were unfortunately a few downsides to the event. First and foremost, the “scattered” layout of the venue comes to mind. Outside the racing circuit on P1, there was a designated smart parking area that, regrettably, was only partially utilized. Consequently, the sense of strolling through rows of smart cars, admiring them, and engaging in conversations with fellow smart drivers was lacking. Due to the parking area’s distance, the owners/drivers were often not present near their vehicles. Additionally, there was a smart camping area and a smart community area located nearby, but from our observations, these spaces seemed to be mixed in with regular festival attendees. It was a missed opportunity.

In fact, most smart enthusiasts and friends could be found at the smart booth. Meeting some familiar faces and old friends did bring a touch of the smart times atmosphere to the event. We’ve already reached out for the exact number of smart times attendees at the festival, but are still awaiting a response. Approximately 830 tickets were issued for smart times in total.

What’s next for smart times? Naturally, this was a burning question for us, and some hints could be gleaned between the lines. But first and foremost, nothing is certain at the moment, and numerous possibilities are on the table. It’s conceivable that smart times might once again be part of the festival, possibly with a modified setup, such as a dedicated area with its parking spaces or something similar. However, a completely separate and independent smart times event, reminiscent of the past, is also within the realm of possibility. From my perspective, these are promising prospects!

Even more exciting is the fact that smart is eagerly anticipating feedback from the smart community. I was informed that, following the event, they will be reviewing the community’s feedback, and if it aligns with their plans, it will be integrated into next year’s preparations.
