There was a “mild hybrid” project initiated by Smart, which was developed by the company Zytek (UK) and utilized the Smart ForTwo 450 as its prototype model.
The resulting car was released as the Smart ForTwo 451 MHD, and subsequently, Zytek was acquired by Continental AG. Smart also created the Electric Drive in cooperation with Zytek, a British company that focuses on developing hybrid and electric drives.
